T.I. Net Worth: Facing Tax Issues and Failed Investments, How Much Money Does This Rapper Have Left?

Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., professionally known as T.I. or Tip, is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. He’s widely regarded as the pioneer of Trap Music, a subgenre of Southern hip-hop characterized by heavy 808 sub-bass, hi-hat patterns, and gritty themes.

T.I.’s second studio album, Trap Muzik (2003), was one of the first albums to define and popularize the genre, giving it its name and helping it gain national attention. Trap Muzik peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart and No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

In 2024, T.I. announced he’s retiring from performing. “I don’t need the money anymore,” he told Ferrari Simmons on The Beat’s afternoon show, Rari at 2. And indeed, T.I. has built a substantial fortune over his 20+ year career.

Let’s take a look at T.I.’s net worth, including his various income sources.

What Is T.I.’s Net Worth?

As of 2025, T.I.’s net worth falls between $30 million and $50 million, though some sources state that it’s far higher at $70 million.

Much of T.I.’s net worth comes from his career as a music artist. He has sold over 14 million albums and 30 million singles, and even founded his own record label called Grand Hustle Records.

T.I. has also starred in several high-budget movies, including “American Gangster” (2007), “Ant-Man” (2015) and “Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), Sleepless (2017), and “Cut Throat City” (2020).

In addition to his career in the music and film industry, T.I. owns several businesses, including a nightclub in Atlanta and a clothing line called AKOO.

Music Career

T.I. has sold over 14 million albums worldwide. His best-selling albums include PAPER TRAIL (2008), which sold over 2.2 million copies, KING (2006) at 2.1 million copies, and T.I. vs. T.I.P. (2007) at 1 million copies.

T.I. also earns a sizable amount from royalties and music streaming platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

His YouTube channel has over 4.6 million subscribers and has amassed 4 billion views since its creation in 2007. His most popular videos are “Live Your Life” ft. Rihanna with 350 million views, “About the Money” ft. Young Thug with 377 million views, and “No Mediocre” ft. Iggy Azalea with 413 million views.

YouTube pays its artists between $0.003 and $0.005 per view, meaning that T.I. earned between $12 million and $20 million in ad revenue.

On Spotify, T.I. has a combined total of 7.9 billion streams. Spotify pays its artists about the same as YouTube, so T.I. earned roughly $23 million to $39 million on the platform.

Business Venues

In 2003, T.I. founded the independent label Grand Hustle Records. The label has launched the careers of big names like Travis Scott, Iggy Azalea, and B.o.B. Grand Hustle Records has released 33 studio albums, 14 of which earned gold or higher certification.

T.I. also co-founded the AKOO clothing line in 2008, which offered upscale urban apparel.

Furthermore, T.I. owns a nightclub in Atlanta, a restaurant located in the heart of Bankhead, and a museum called Trap Music Museum (TMM), which he opened with William “Bem” Sparks.

OMG GirlZ Lawsuit

In 2009, T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris co-created a teen pop group called OMG Girlz, featuring their daughter Zonnique Pullins as one of the members. The group achieved moderate success with singles like “Where the Boys At?” and “Gucci This (Gucci That).”

In 2020, T.I. and Tiny filed a lawsuit against MGA Entertainment for copying the likeness of OMG Girlz in the company’s newly released doll collection “L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls.”

The claim wasn’t without merit; the dolls undeniably resembled OMG Girlz’ distinctive style, down to the color and appearance of the group’s hair.

After a lengthy battle, the court awarded T.I., Tiny, and OMG Girlz a total of $71.5 million: $53.6 million in punitive damages and $17.9 million in actual damages.

Tax Issues

T.I. and Tiny had several issues with the IRS over the years.

In 2015, the IRS filed two tax liens for over $4.5 million in unpaid taxes from the years 2012 and 2013—$1.4 million in 2012 and $3.1 million in 2013. By 2018, the debt totaled $6.2 million.

In 2024, T.I. faced another federal tax lien of over $2.5 million for unpaid taxes from 2021 and 2022. This included about $380,000 for 2021 and $2.1 million for 2022.

As far as we know, the T.I.’s debt to the IRS has yet to be resolved.

Aydin & Co. Jewelry Lawsuit

In 2016, the Aydin & Co. jewelry store in Georgia filed a lawsuit against T.I., claiming that he failed to pay for several high-value pieces he had purchased on credit.

According to the lawsuit, the rapper owed the store over $400,000. Aydin & Co. sued T.I. for $755,000 for repeatedly dodging payment. The case was settled out of court in 2018.

FLiK  Crypto Currency Lawsuit

In August 2017, T.I co-founded the cryptocurrency “FLiK” alongside businessman Ryan Felton. T.I. and Felton sold the cryptocurrency at 6 cents per token, promising buyers that the token would be worth $14.99 within 15 months.

The token jumped from $0.06 to about $0.21 in several months, so buyers had their hopes up. Unfortunately, that hope was misplaced because in August 2018, the token dropped to less than a penny each.

Investors sued the FLiK founders, claiming that the duo had misled them about the cryptocurrency’s value. They also had screenshots of Felton boasting on social media that FLiK had several big-time investors, including the billionaire Mark Cuban.

According to the duo, the failed venture collectively cost them $2 million. Investors showed no leniency, however, and filed a $5 million lawsuit against the company.

In September 2020, T.I. agreed to pay a civil monetary penalty of $75,000 to the Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition, he also agreed not to participate in sales of digital assets for at least 5 years.

T.I. admitted that he regretted the business venture he led with Ryan Felton.

“Mr. Harris regrets his involvement with Mr. Felton,” T.I.’s spokesperson said in an interview, “Mr. Harris never took a dollar from Mr. Felton’s failed venture and immediately removed his name from it once he learned that the project was undeveloped.”

The spokesperson also claimed that Felton used T.I.’s popularity and reputation to seek instant profit, and that T.I. never wanted to be involved in a “get-rich-quick” scam and genuinely believed that FLiK was a legit business.

All in All

T.I., also known as Clifford Harris Jr., is a rapper, actor, and entrepreneur credited with pioneering trap music. With a career spanning over 20 years, he’s amassed a net worth estimated between \$30–70 million through music, film, business ventures, and streaming. Despite success, he’s faced lawsuits, tax issues, and failed investments.
