Over the past few months, I’ve gone through a pivot in my business to focus on startup marketing, a re-branding (something I’ll write about soon), and some new initiatives, highlighted by the launch of a newsletter, “This Week in Canadian Startups”.
The newsletter came to life after I started bookmarking startup-related blog posts and articles on Delicious and Read it Later. I then decided to share these links on a weekly blog post. At the same time, I had started to subscribe to several newsletters and been reading blog posts about the value of newsletters as sales and marketing tool.
Before long, it became clear that shifting the weekly startup roundup to a newsletter made a lot of sense. After some fits and starts with MailChimp, “This Week in Canadian Startups” was launched three weeks ago.
So far, the reaction has been great. With a bit of marketing (mostly on Twitter), there are now more than 120 subscribers, so it looks like there is solid interest from people in Canadian startups, as well as interesting blog posts and articles from the startup world.
Let me know what you think. If you have suggestions or feedback about the content, leave a comment or send me a note (email@example.com). (Note: The newsletter design will be updated soon.)
