Earlier this morning, the dreaded Fail Whale made a surprise appearance as Twitter was hit with being “over capacity”.

In some respects, the unavailability of Twitter was refreshing. It meant that the usual morning routine was a lot less noisy and more relaxed. Rather than scanning through my Twitter stream looking for interesting items, I checked e-mail and read the newspaper (Yes, I still read newspapers!)

To be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with Twitter. I love the fact it provides a user-friendly snapshot of what’s happening, but Twitter can be overwhelming and relentless.

That said, Twitter has come back to life but the break was nice while it lasted!
