Let’s face it, the IPO market is dead.
But an exception to the rule could be Skype, which eBay plans to spin off through an IPO during the first half of 2010.
Granted, a year is a long time and there’s no certainty the economic climate will be any better than it is today. But Skype has a strong, global brand and a fast-growing business to pull off an IPO.
In fact, Skype’s IPO could be red-hot given how it will have strong appeal to retail investors.
That said, there’s something strange about eBay announcing its intentions to do a Skype IPO so far down the road. I wonder how it fits into groups that may want to acquire Skype such as Skype co-founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis?
