What surprises me is that Yahoo seems to be the most popular web mail service – yet I took a look the other day and it seemed shocking!

At least hotmail provides an attractive and (reasonably) ad-free UI, but Yahoo mail looks like MySpace…

You’re right, there are a lot of Hotmail and Yahoo users but I couldn’t find definitive data.

Innovative… yes. Influential… yes.

Leading? Not so sure. Gmail actually has surprisingly low numbers, I believe it’s around the 20-30 million mark.

In contrast Hotmail and Yahoo mail dwarf it with around 200 million users each.

Google Themes have been available through iGoogle for a while… but I guess Google’s portal has not the same visibility and usage as GMail.
