TripHarbor Sets Sail

For the past couple of months, my friend and mesh colleague, Stuart MacDonald, has been cryptically talking about “Project X” – a start-up that he had been working on that remained in stealth mode despite our best efforts.

Happily, “Project X” is no more as Stuart has unveiled TripHarbor (tripharbor.com/tripharbour.ca), a Web site where you will be able to purchase cruises and get inside information from people who love cruising. “We want to make it easier to find and buy the perfect cruise,” Stuart told us yesterday.

So why cruising? Stuart, who started Expedia Canada, said the inspiration came from a cruises his family took to Panama last year. He realized it was a challenge to find and buy just the right cruise. After doing some research, the idea gained more momentum when Stuart realized that while 60% of casual travel in North America is booked online, only 1% of cruises are bought on the Web.

TripHarbor will launch later this year. Before Stuart officially become Captain Stubing of the online cruise market, he’ll have his hands full as an expert on CBC’s Fortune Hunters, which debuts tonight, and, of course, organizing the mesh conference.

You can more information about from the TripHarbor blog.
