Firefox/Leopard Woes
I think Rob Hyndman has cursed me. After reading about his Leopard woes, I politely commiserated but privately was thankful my install of Leopard had been problem-free.
Today, however, my MacBook isn’t quite the same - and I’m not sure why. For some reason, Firefox (2.0.0.9) has gone pear-shaped on me. In particular, many of my toolbars (1Password, Digg, del.icio.us) have disappeared. When I click on View, Toolbar; the only options are Navigation Toolbar and Bookmarks Toolbar.
As well, none of my add-ons/extensions work any more.
This could be a Firefox bug or a Leopard bug but I haven’t been able to figure it out. The only change I made was the creation of an application stack that included Firefox.
I’m stumped so if anyone can help, I’d be most appreciative.
Update: Speaking of Leopard, there’s a new update (10.5.1) now available that fixes a whack o’ bugs. You can download it by using the “software update” function within Mac.
Update II: After much trial and tribulation, I figured out what happened. If all of your extensions ever start working, shut down Firefox, go into your Firefox profile, and then delete extension.ini, extensions.ini, extensions.cache and extensions.rdf. Not sure whether the Leopard update helped but my Firefox is back.

Heh… maybe some of the Apple zombie brainiacs posting over on Rob’s Jaguar Attack entry will have a fix for ya Mark. Ya… probably not.

Number 2 story on Techmeme this afternoon was about some significant upgrades to Leopard (10.5.1). I have a feeling you are not alone with these problems. I know of one person who had to rebuild his entire Mac earlier this week.
