It might be a gold rush...but how many of the applications will be around in the morning. Having said that we just launched SkoolPool on FaceBook for students applying to colleges and universitites. It's a bit more serious than many other applications so we'll see how it goes. But I do think social networks are a new fact of life so can't be ignored -- but gold is always hard to find.

Remember when Geocities was offering free web pages to everyone? Then when they were riding on top of the internet buzz, they dumped ads all over their free sites just to get some return on their moneymaker. Remember how in doing that, thousands abandoned their sites and the company evolved into a portal for spammers and link farmers and crappy design quickly after?

Good times.

I know this for sure: you're right about the Red Bull and Skittles. Everyone and their dog is trying to develop a FB app right now. Whether there's money in it, i haven't a clue.

Our 76 Design team has a really cool game on FB for TravelPod.com - seems to be striking gold...
