Making Sense of Facebook Apps

In many ways, Facebook’s decision to open up its API has been a disaster because it has created an ‘anything goes’ environment with dozens of useless applications launched every day.

Within this development avalanche, there are, however, some useful nuggets. Unfortunately, they are difficult, if not impossible, to find. So what do you do?

If you’re Jeremy Toeman, you put together a service called AppRate that attempts to break through the noise by offering Facebook users a place where they can find, review and vote on the best Facebook applications. AppRate is clean, easy to navigate and, most important, a useful resource for anyone who wants to make their Facebook footprint more valuable.
