Got a Web Host!
July 30th, 2007 Posted in Aside
Just an update on my search for a new Web host for a new - and terribly exciting! - Wordpress blog I’m launching soon with my brother, Sean. After a lot of great suggestions, I decided on A Small Orange. ASO users were impressed with its customer service, and its prices are extremely reasonable. Thanks to everyone who left comments! The blog will be unveiled in a week or so.

Please post an update/review of your experience with ASO once the blog is up and running. I’m interested in the latency you experience when accessing the domain.
I’ve avoided all California-based hosts specifically because of being located in Toronto, and the load time for Rogers HiSpeed users to access sites hosted in that area. Perhaps my experiences were just unlucky having chosen the hosts that I did (specifically MediaTemple).

Well I have certainly seen better hosts for cheaper, but I guess whatever floats your boat.

Oops. My bad on my last comment. Thought ASO was out of California. Seems they’re actually out of Georgia.

When I moved my blog from Blogger to Wordpress, I chose DreamHost. If you compare features and pro/cons, you should verify that it’s far best than any other offering. Take a look: http://www.dreamhost.com

I’ve got two accounts at ASO; I opened my second one a week ago

Great! From the research I did and the comments from others, it’s seems to be a good option if you’re looking for basic, inexpensive hosting.

Try http://www.stormweb.ca. I’ve been a customer for years and they’ve never let me down. Their servers are located in Toronto and Sarnia, and they are Canadian. Prices are good too.
