    What’s New with b5media?

    By Mark Evans | June 13, 2007

It’s been eight months since I left the world of journalism to jump into the blogosphere by taking a job with b5media Inc. Looking back, it has been an whirlwind of activity and a hands-on education on operating a fast-moving, lots-of-balls-in-the-air-at-the-same-time business.

The over-arching theme has been growth: more blogs, more page views, more unique visitors, more revenue, more employees. In fact, today we’ve officially announced that b5media has cracked the 200-blog mark. It’s an achievement that caught some of us by surprise given we’ve been so heads-down growing the business, hiring employees, moving to a shiny new office in downtown Toronto, introducing operational processes and documents so the company can become a real business.

Truth be told, 200 blogs is pretty impressive because it puts the spotlight on b5’s strategic focus on being the one-stop shop on the blogosphere. If you’re into celebrities, entertainment, sports, technology, business, health, fashion, beauty, etc., we’ve got content - and lots of it - for you. What’s particularly exciting is we’re starting to attract popular bloggers who want to be part of the b5 eco-system. This includes blogs such as Healthbolt, LifeDev, and Copyblogger….and there’s a growing number of other blogs in the pipeline.

At the same, we have a number of new and exciting strategies that will be launched over the next couple of months that will jump-start growth even more. it’s been a good, educational run so far - and hard to believe it’s been less than a year. I often describe my time at b5 as a crash-course MBA but there’s no way people sitting in a classroom are getting the kind of experience that I’m receiving each and every day.

      Mark:

Congratulations on your growth. I read your press release from the link provided. In your opinion, does this press release meet the standards you recently outlined in one of your posts? If not, what is your take on the challenges of meeting the standards you outlined? Does that bring a different light on your opinions of press releases from your previous days as a journalist?

I would be interested in your perspective.
