New and Improved Google Analytics
In my mind, the Web statistics market is still wide open for someone to capture given there’s so much inconsistency between the different tools that people are currently using. Google looks like it’s making a big move to grab more market share with an improved version of Google Analytics that features a more user-friendly interface, including better graphics and language that the rest of us can understand. Whether it’s Google or Blogbeat or Site Meter or Performancing, it would be great to see one stats service provider take the market by the horns so a standard can be established to measure Web traffic. Right now, people select the stats tool that flatters them the most so what you get is one site/blog trumpeting their traffic one way, while another uses an entirely different methodology. It’s confusing and it doesn’t benefit anyone, particularly sites/blogs trying to gain credibility with advertisers. For all the nitty-gritty details on the new Google Analytics, check out Search Engine Land.
