So the mystery is finally over about the big announcement involving William Shatner and Rogers. The “North American first” is the launch of a wireless video service that lets you turn your handset into a Webcam. It sounds like another ARPU/data driver to me but I’m sure there’s huge demand for video calling, right? Rogers VISION also lets customers access video-on-demand, including videos from YouTube, ET Canada, CSI and CNN, and music services such as XM and the Rogers MusicStore. (Note: Sounds like another ARPU/data driver to me). “Canada is clearly known for its many talents but I am especially proud to see my home country again at the leading edge of technology,” Shatner said in a press release.

No mention of pricing in the press release?
I said this last week when you mentioned a press conference coming up: Right now Rogers has priced themselves to far out of the market that very few people even use their email service unless its a business expense.
How can they expect people to catch on to video calls when they can’t even afford a simple text-based email?
This is similar to when Cadillac announced the Sixteen at the Detroit Auto Show a few years back. A 16 cylinder engine. Yay… It’s cool, but no one can afford it. Nor is it practical for that matter…
