many of these comments are saying that windows pc is much cheaper than macs and therefor better. That is stupid. I know that Macs are more expensive but you get much more, it's much faster, doesn't get viruses (it can but 99,9% of all viruses are for windows)

And also, the price of the computer shouldn't have anyting to do with the quality with the computer

um actually, ur wrong. a windows machine is a lot more harder to hack than a mac. the reason it never happens is because no one bothers to write a virus for a mac because macs already suck enough and hackers respect that. even hackers have sympathy

You're dumb. Windows has more viruses because it has a higher market share, and viruses for macs would affect about 1/18 of all computer users, while viruses for windows would affect about 85% of all computer users. Hackers are also not stupid: they want their viruses to go to as many people as possible.

Mac has practically no security: they never needed much, as their computers rarely have viruses made for them. It is far easier to hack into a Mac than a PC.

Mac sucks as UNIX goes. If you want the closest Unix you can find, why don't you instead use Linux?

I'm sick of hearing people say – "Oooooooh, Macs don't get viruses! Ooooooooh!"
Macs DO get viruses, and BAD viruses. The difference is that there is less of them for Macs, because, obviously, who would want to make a virus only targeting 5% of the world's computers? There is a huge difference between the SECURITY of a platform and how readily viruses are available.
PS: More script kiddies use Windows, as well, which is a major contributing factor to the number of so called 'viruses' out there that are in fact just joke programs.

Mac is the best because it has less virus, rarely crashes, has a faster boot so you can get straight to work faster and mac can run windows through boot camp and it can run any other os beside mac os x with parallels. i am originally a windows user who eventually swapped to mac. I used to think windows was the best but now its macs turn to have the best os, apple perfect their products e.g..ipod but Microsoft only see money and sell cheap operating systems to everyone and then they crash after two years of work. Microsoft have lost the meaning of providing a good long lasting product

Well, I'll share my opinion here and not go flaming off on one subject. I have used both operating systems for awhile now and do have to say I prefer my Mac much more over Windows. Yes, I'll let Windows win the fight for more programs fit for their operating system, however Mac is catching up quickly and can run the Windows operating system for the programs Mac isn't compatible with. With the whole virus thing, Mac is built upon a stronger base which makes it harder for viruses to intrude upon. Also, Windows is clearly the more used operating system so many, many more viruses are made for Windows. However, most importantly, Mac is just easier to use. Windows Vista requires a very powerful machine to run efficiently and even then has its problems. Mac OS X does not require a very powerful machine which is why sometimes they may run behind in specs compared to PC machines, however Mac is catching up again. When a program in Windows freezes the whole computer freezes or slows down. Rarely Mac will have an irresponsive program but when it does only that one program freezes and you're able to force quit the program a lot more easier than it is to do on Windows. I have found that Macs just overall run much more smoothly and quickly than PCs. Actually, just the other week I used a 2.5 year old Mac with very low specs compared to a brand new Windows based machine with the best parts in it and the old Mac still ran better. Many private schools on all levels are requiring Apple Mac computers because they last much longer and have fewer problems. If price is an issue, consider the fact that Macs last longer and require less money being spent on repairs. Many people think Mac isn't as good as Windows because they're not used to it. Many of the things are different and require different commands to do things. However, once you get used to a Mac you're able to work more efficiently. Windows and Mac started out as one you know. Then an offer came along to make the operating system go into many more brands of computers worldwide making more profits. Some laughed at the concept thinking that they'd never let any other computer run it's operating system, and the others just wanted to make more money. Thats why we have Windows and Mac as two separate companies and not just one. So for the people who call Mac greedy for their higher price, you're wrong.

1)Its never show up the blue dead screen.
2)no viruses)
3)easy to use
4)beautiful style and keyboard
5)Mac can use bootcamp and run Windows too things that a normal pc cant do xD
6)All languages in one pack
7)faster and secure

I swithed to Mac 3 months ago
because its better for photoshoping and web developing

I laugh'd at Bruce for being an idiot. I've had this computer(not an iMachine, which is a piece of crap) or a Mac.

I'm sorry, but the reasons for the lack of viruses in Mac is:

1) More people use Windows, so if you wanted to infect more people you would use Windows as the main target, not Mac.

2) As someone mentioned above, if you don't recognize it, you can't see it. Mac 'thinks' they do not have as many viruses as Windows, or yet even any viruses. If you are blind, you cannae see.

Program Compatibility:

1) Mac boasts their "new" OS's, but here's the thing: most, if not all, cannot run most programs that are out on the web. You either can't run it due to incompatibility, or you buy a new converter or a program that can run the executable(even at this, the translation is bad from Windows/Linux -> Mac"

2) As Windows Users grow, the amount of data created by Windows Users grows as well. You have more people to create programs, more program options to choose from, better performance with programs, etc.
With Macs there aren't as many people to create programs for the Macs, and you don't have the options.

"Performance":
Bruce says that cars cost more because of better performance and parts.

Here's the deal:

1) Yes, you may get better performance and parts, but what happens when your parts and performance is outdated by modern technology(Windows). With Macs it's a matter of buying a brand new computer for thousands of dollars just to keep up with the modern technology.
With most Windows computers, you can go out and buy a new Hard Drive and throw it in your computer and be on your way. You can go buy a new Motherboard, Memory, Video Card, etc. On Macs, you are stuck with what you get(aka crap).

Yes, I know I will be blasted for: "well, not all of Windows computers are upgradable on that many levels."

This is true, most Laptops are stuck with CPUs/Video Cards/Motherboards. This is true with even Mac Laptops, except even more of the case because of the issues with upgrading all the parts on it(because you can't upgrade any).

This isn't on the part of any Windows OS designer(because Windows allows other companies to manufacture and install new and more customizible PCs, instead of Apple controlling most, if not all, computer designing, limiting your customization.)

On the account of Vista; I have no comment, as I am not familiar with Vista. I use XP Home Edition, and I have for a long time.

I also agree that MS is better in terms of user friendliness and uses. now in vista also microsoft has increased the graphics. It will take time for sound and video but sound and video mostly depends on hardware also.
