The Nortel Mystery

With the SEC filing civil fraud charges yesterday against four ex-Nortel executives, the mystery behind the company’s accounting scandal is, hopefully, getting closer to being unraveled. What’s perhaps most interesting is why it happened. What allegedly prompted a dozen Nortel executives to cook the books? Was it just greed? Or was it ego because better financial results made the executive team look like heroes?
