Turn the heater down ;-) Seriously though - has it always been like this - or after you've installed some particular application?

I've had to return two black MacBooks so far. The first two developed battery and/or electrical problems. I'm hoping third time's the charm.

The heat problem, which was so intense when the MacBook was first introduced, went away for me after the SMC firmware update. Mine has been running hotter again since security update 2006-007.

No, I'm afraid I don't know what the solution is.

Check out Jaanus Kase's post on the Mac Book at http://www.jaanuskase.com/en/2006/12/switch_ergonomics_and_hardware.html where he says:

<i>"This thing gets HOT HOT HOT. And no, it’s not because I have a battery from the exploding series, I checked. It’s not just the battery that gets hot, it’s the whole unit. You can’t really hold it in your lap as you’d toast yourself. And it’s just annoying. When I need a heater, I use a heater, I don’t need a stupid laptop to heat my room."</i>

it's hard to believe a company like apple would put something out with such an obvious problem.
