A poor analogy...does a CEO need to understand the intricate details of accounting or be an accountant in order to make a financial decision?  No, same applies in other functional areas of a corporation.  There are other skills required in order to make intelligent decisions about technology but saying they need to be geeks or have geek like tendencies is just wrong.</description>
