Rant o' the Day: Bluetooth Earpieces
August 30th, 2006 Posted in Uncategorized, Wireless
Here's the deal: I'm a quasi-geek at heart but I'm not a fan of Bluetooth earpieces. Over the past couple of days, I've seen a couple guys walking around with them. While I'm sure they're convenient and work well, they do not look cool at all. In fact, they say “loser” (gosh, that's harsh, isn't it?). I mean, does it really take that much work to reach for your wireless phone as opposed to using a Bluetooth earpiece? If you're driving, I guess you could justify it, although driving while talking on your phone is bad, bad, bad - particularly those SUV-driving-we-rule-the-road types. Anyway, I feel much better now. Carry on…….

Mark:
I concur. You mentioned driving in your post…I witnessed another person using a blue tooth device driving as well…only this was on the golf course! While on the first tee wearing his earpiece, he would accept phone calls, talk on the tee box while addressing his golf ball, tell the caller to hold on for a moment, take his swing, then resume his conversation. He did this all day…

Mark,
I Mostly Agree…… I'm cool with the bluetooth while actually talking on the phone. The LOSERS who never remove if from their head kill me… I feel like pummeling them.

Ok I like this rant- in fact you must create a “rant of the day” catogory !!
I think Anon is correct, I feel like driving a pixaxe thru em folks who sit and dont remove their earpiece !! If I had a hidden laser beam , I would tear a hole right through em ear peices !! :)-

About 5 years ago I was sitting in the food court of a business tower when 3 ETF guys (SWAT for our US friends) walked in wearing their headsets, body armour and black outfits. The whole place went silent, women were breathing heavy and us men who went to law school wished we had decided to join the law side of Law and Order by becoming these bad azz ETF guys.
To those of you who wear your BT earpieces when walking around in public…you don't look like ETF, CIA, or the CAA. In fact, you evoke the exact opposite response from everyone around you. Don't say we didn't tell you.
Thanks, Mark. Feeling better already.
Best,
George

Hello all, just like to comment on all the previous comments above and possibly soon below…
I am one of those people who leaves the their BT headset on, I do not see what the problem is? I talk on my phone anywhere from 3000 to 4000 minutes per month and when I am not one the phone I listen to music over it. Face it, the year is 2006, Embrace technology, if you are still living in the past, well good luck to you. All you are doing is being bias. Possibly there is nothing more important to rave about then try and put down those who wear BT headsets?
If you don't like it when someone has it on; look elsewhere. Just like you, would not look at a woman, who does not apple to you.
