Virgin Canada's Marketing Machine
You have to love how Virgin Canada is starting to get all kinds of free advertising/publicity as it apparently prepares to launches a new wireless service in Canada. Today's Globe and Mail has yet a story about Virgin Canada and how they are going to disrupt the market with a hip, cool approach to marketing. Given Virgin Canada is rumored to be finally getting off the ground on March 1, the company must be basking in the buzz the media is helping them get. You have to believe the coverage is an offshoot of the Richard Branson aura. The man the Midas touch is a marketing genius, even if he and/or his company isn't trying that hard.
With all the hype about how Virgin is going to rock the Canadian market, is there a chance it could fail to meet its lofty expectations? I'm curious about how much flexibility Virgin is going to have given its joint venture partner is Bell Canada. Maybe Bell will let Virgin do its thing in the pre-paid market and happily watch from the sidelines as Rogers/Fido squirms with a pesky, new competitor.
